Cupping
Cupping is often used as a complementary modality with acupuncture and other service. It is designed to help release tension and decrease myofascial adhesions in the muscle and fascial tissues. It does this by increasing blood flow and decreasing blood stagnation. This blood stagnation can be seen as marks left on the skin following cupping.
Gua sha
Gua sha is a scrapping technique designed to move blood stagnation and create a healthy immune/inflammatory response to restore balance in body tissues and organs. It can have different effects depending upon what area of the body is treated. The “sha” or petechiea are the small red spots that come to the surface of the skin as a result of the scraping.
